Our Caron Capital Team

In his role as co-managing partner of Caron Capital, Eric Caron oversees the management of an extremely diverse portfolio that represents the holdings of the Caron Family Office. Long before founding Caron Capital, Eric obtained his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Toronto followed by an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1993. Upon completion of his MBA, Eric joined the McKinsey & Company management firm, where he assisted large, international clients with a variety of strategic and operational issues in the US, Canada, Brazil, and Japan.

In 1995, Eric added to his business successes when he joined Groupe Tremca, a Québec concrete product manufacturer formerly led by his father. Under Eric’s leadership, the company expanded its sales fourfold and became the leading concrete products manufacturers in the province. After Groupe Tremca’s sale in 2009, Eric became co-managing partner of Caron Capital, where he is intimately involved with all aspects of investment management, including direct contact with many of the businesses owned by the family office.

A key to Eric’s success in the family office is his status as a devoted family man. He has been happily married since 1989 and has three children; together, the family enjoys attending athletic events and traveling. In fact, Eric has been to 40 different countries either solo or with his family. Eric is also a professional engineer and active member of Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec as well as the Young Presidents Organization.

As the co-managing partner of Caron Capital, Hugh Caron manages a diverse portfolio through the family office. Hugh’s background consists of a bachelor’s degree from University of Western Ontario, an accounting diploma from Wilfrid Laurier University, a CPA certification and an MBA from the University of Florida, which included a semester abroad at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Upon completion of his MBA, Hugh went on to work in corporate finance in New York City.

Hugh’s career successes include expanding the Florida family business, Tremron, from one plant to five and increasing its manufacturing capacity tenfold. Tremron became the largest manufacturer of hardscape concrete products in the Southeastern U.S. Tremron was sold in 2016, and Hugh now focuses his efforts on Caron Capital, where he is involved in all aspects of the business including direct investments, alternative investments through leading managers, public equities, and fixed income.

Outside of his career, Hugh is a devoted family man. He has been married since 1999 and has two children. He maintains a healthy work life balance by attending his children’s sporting events, spending family time at home, and finding time for himself at the gym. Hugh is also an active member of Young Presidents Organization, having served in various executive leadership roles since 2003.

Yannick Marcotte has been the General Manager of Caron Capital since June 2016.

Before joining the Caron Capital team, Yannick earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Sherbrooke. In the following years, he also earned a master’s degree in taxation from the same institution. He has been a CPA since 2006 and was a tax practitioner at Raymond Chabon Grant Thornton for ten years.

Yannick is a member of the administration board of the Chambre de Commerce et de l’industrie du Haut-Richelieu. He also serves on the administration board of Corporation du Fort St-Jean. Outside of his career and community volunteer work, Yannick is married and has two wonderful children.

Jenny Contant has served as Director of Legal Services at Caron Capital since September 2017.

Prior to joining Caron Capital, Jenny earned a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Sherbrooke followed by a master’s degree in law, tax option from the Higher Commercial Studies of Montreal. She has been a member of the Québec Bar since 2008 and is a founding member of the Young Bar of Richelieu, where she served as treasurer for four years. Following her education, Jenny was a tax practitioner at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton for ten years.

Throughout her career, Jenny has served as a member of the board of directors for multiple charities, including Fondation Famille Caron, L’Étoile Pédiatrie Sociale en Communauté du Haut-Richelieu, and the Belmira Jaime Fund. She is also a speaker and member of the Tax and Financial Planning Association in Québec. Outside of her career, Jenny is married and a proud mother of three children.

Nicolas Masse has served as Administrative Director at Caron Capital since August, 2019

Before joining the Caron Capital team, Nicolas worked in the field of accounting and taxation since 2008. In September of 2011, he successfully completed the Uniform Final Evaluation (UFE) to earn the title of Chartered Accountant. Nicolas then devoted countless hours of part-time evening study between 2012 and 2017 before eventually earning his master’s degree in Taxation in December of 2017. He is a specialist in Canadian tax compliance and corporate reorganizations.

Outside of his career, Nicolas loves to travel, whether within Canada itself or elsewhere in the world. He especially enjoys getting out of the confines of the city and going hiking in the mountains. He also loves playing cosom hockey with friends.
